Jacquette Stjernstedt was a patient at the psychiatric hospital Sankt Lars in Lund between 1884 - 1909. Like many of the female patients of the clinic she would at times be given material for embroidery and crochet, however, Jacquettes work differs from the other patients. The clothes and artworks she made are incredibly intricate and often abstract, complex and made in collage techniques.  In her patient records the following comments are written: 

”The patient only spends her time smoking cigarettes and reading, occasionally embroidering. Her work is often completely without purpose. It can generally not be used for anything. She sows bizarre patterns and figures with a strange cluttering of the colours, yet not without a certain overall impact.” 

The extraordinary jacket / blouse is made in the technique of English embroidery which Jacquette used frequently. The apron is a collage with figures, made in a combination of techniques including paper and textiles. Jacquette Stjernstedt var en patient på psykiatriska sjukhuset Sankt Lars i Lund mellan 1884 - 1909. Liksom många av de kvinnliga patienterna på kliniken fick hon ibland material för broderi och virkning, men Jacquettes arbete skiljer sig från de andras. De kläder och konstverk hon gjorde är otroligt intrikata och ofta abstrakta, komplexa och gjorda i collage-tekniker. I hennes journal kan man läsa följande:

Kan i allmänhet inte användas till någonting. Syr en del bisarra mönster och figurer med egendomlig hopklottring av färgerna, dock ej utan en viss totalverkan”.

Den extraordinära jackan/blusen är gjord i tekniken Engelskt broderi som Jacquette använde ofta. Förklädet är ett kollage gjort i en kombination av tekniker i papper och textilier. Bilder kommer bland annat från Kulturen i Lund och Region Skånes medicinhistoriska samling.
